Behind an unprepossessing wall 
is hidden a little garden of eden where we have moved to enjoy our semi-retirement. Just 40 meters from the Tourist Walk, one block north of the Santo Domingo Cultural Center - a bit of tranquility in the heart of the Centro Histórico of beautiful Oaxaca.
La NUEVA Casa de María is smaller than the original, all on one level and surrounded by lush gardens, including plants, flowers, frangipani and other trees, as well as the tremendous Macuil tree which fills the sky with color from October through January. Tourists pass by to see it from the street and a lovely photo of it in full bloom has appeared in National Geographic Magazine.
While not pretentious, it includes many luxury details and we have included in the construction three rooms/suites for friends who visit our beautiful Oaxaca - all new two-bedroom Family Suite, María's Room and the Luna Suite. All the rooms have air conditioning, television, telephone and, of course, private bath. María's Room and the Family Suite share a private garden and the Salita el Macuil with refrigerator, coffeemaker, book nook, table for games or snacks and a computer with high speed internet access. The Luna Suite has its secret patio, refrigerator and coffeemaker and the use of the computer in the Salita el Macuil. Guests can socialize, or not, as they choose.
The kitchen, living/dining room, TV room and our bedrooms are in the main house, where you can breakfast with us or in the gardens.
